60 Minute Makeover

Updated 23 September 2008

ITV's 60 Minute Makeover programmeAround mid-February 2008 we took one of those bizarre phone calls where you wonder if you're being wound up! The team from ITV's 60 Minute Makeover were looking for a reputable firm of heating engineers to install a fire for one of the programmes.

Well! There's an opportunity!

Filmed in April 2008 the programme makers were incredibly lucky with the weather - it was one of those days when the sun shone, and shone! It gave us real optimism for 2008's summer! We all got sun burned.

A Sutton-in-Ashfield dinner-lady Marian was surprised by Emma her future daughter-in-law!

Richard Randall and the production team performed "design surgery" on the Sutton home. The team worked on the kitchen, lounge dining room, Marian's bedroom and daughter Bethany's bedroom.

Our part in the 60 minute makeover was to fit a fireplace supplied of Burley fires. That and anything else we were asked to do! - painting, etc!!

The fireplace was a Burley Manton 738R - it's a super, self contained electric fire suite. Simple to install - it doesn't need a chimney or a flue, it can be fitted onto any wall (the fire's 1 metre across and 90 centimetres tall).
